An introduction into SAP Integrated Business Planning for demand

In this blog, I will be taking another simple example to show how the stock quantities of one product which has to be phased out can be transformed to another product which is substitute using attribute transformation. So there is a need to transfer all the old inventories of the Material to Material on all locations. For Attribute transformation we need a new planning level on which we define the calculation rules for attributes. Now that we have complete the transformation steps.

When we in planning view below is the result:. As per this all the stock values of Material will be transferred to Material at respective locations. This was a just a simple example as to how to approach this topic and how we can use the power of attribute transformation to simplify some critical business problems. Hope I could explore a bit on this topic.

I really want more and more use cases to be explored under this umbrella. Anurag Tiwari. Posted on March 27, 3 minute read. Follow RSS feed Like. Location master data type is same as standard. Understanding and analysing of historical data are very important to generate a reliable statistical forecast. SAP adds another feature in its SAP IBP software under Forecast Automation application, and through this application, demand planners can analyse historical demand data statistically without being too mathematical. In this blog, I will walk you through how it works and discuss some of its advantages and drawbacks of it.

Posted by Jacky Jain on Apr In this modern era of globalisation where geographical boundaries are no longer a limitation, with shrinking lead times and increasing speed of business, organisations have a greater need for efficient supply chains than ever before.

In this blog I will explore the collaboration features allowing organisations to plan their supply chains effectively and efficiently. Posted by Richard Bevan on Dec Posted by Chris Curtis on Nov For many manufacturing organisations, Detailed Scheduling is mainly driven by the need to perform manufacturing by following a specific preferred sequence whilst generating an achievable finite plan.

It is quite normal for companies to use Detailed Scheduling heuristics for this function, but there are scenarios where this does not quite fit the bill. Posted by Deepak Arekal on Oct Enjoy the read!

Posted by Sarath Suryadevara on Jul Forecast consumption is a core to most Planning systems, and is based on the assumption that the actual sales orders consume the forecasted quantities. It has always been somewhat of a surprise that forecast consumption has previously not been part of SAP Integrated Business Planning IBP for supply as standard, and has only been introduced time series based as part of the recent release.

Prior toonly a very simplistic forecast consumption method could be configured using key figure calculations within the week time bucket.

The frequency of the data transfer depends on the frequency adopted for the batch job execution. These agents help enable the secure transfer of data between on-premise data sources and SAP Cloud Platform.

After a successful installation and configuration, the conduit for data movements can be used for data flow. The objects or data elements in the data stores are available for use by importing the objects via SAP Cloud Platform.

The next figure shows the conceptual functionalities of the project, process, task, and data flow. A task is created under a project. Data flow maps the fields with the extraction, transformation, and load ETL logic. The following figure shows an example of a project, process, and task. The EditViewScheduleRun NowView Historyand More Actions buttons are used for multiple operations with tasks and processes such as editing a task, executing a process chain, viewing the history of previous runs, or promoting objects to the production environment.

The data flow for the task allows the mapping of source and target fields through an easy drag-and-drop functionality.

The next figure shows a typical data flow for the location master data task. A process is created by taking multiple tasks with an assigned start and end relationship. The process provides the option of executing multiple tasks in a required sequence. The following figure shows a process with multiple master data tasks assigned with a start-to-end relationship in a linear fashion.

Execution of a task performs the data transfer for the data element selected for the task. A global variable is part of the execution property of a task and controls the logic for task execution for the planning area, per the nature of the update, and so on.

The Replace option removes the existing data in the target system while loading the data from the source system. The Delete option will only remove the data in the target system while using the data from the source system.

Processes and tasks can be executed manually on demand or can be scheduled through batch jobs. A batch job can be scheduled for a single execution or can be executed periodically.

Success or failure of the task is displayed in the SAP Cloud Platform through a symbol and a color green for success and red for failure. What does it mean to move your supply chain to the cloud? Introduction of the New Copy Operator A new Copy Operator Advanced is introduced with IBP and will replace the existing copy and disaggregation operators in a non-disruptive way over the next releases. For several releases, the existing operators and the new copy operator will exist in parallel.

You decide which operators you want to use. SAP recommends using the new copy operator. You can easily import configurations of existing operators. You can migrate disaggregation operators without having to adapt dependent templates and jobs.

Mass migration of the old operators is planned for a later release. You can copy values from source to target key figures within one planning area or between two planning areas. You can copy multiple key figure pairs on different copy levels.

Source key figure values are aggregated if required. Target key figure values are disaggregated if required. Missing planning objects and missing time period entries can be created. This blog dedicated to sales and operation planning process.
